Mike Wheeler Shares His Glide Demo Experience.

At the National Federation of the Blind's National Convention in Florida earlier this month, our team had the pleasure of meeting Mike Wheeler. There are a few ways one could describe Mike - full of life, full of energy, and a huge Disney fan (as he'll tell you!). He also loves trying out new assistive technology for the blind, which he often does on his YouTube channel.

Along with hundreds of other participants at the NFB, Mike was able to demo and experience the latest Glide prototypes for himself.

His first demo session started out with an introduction to the device, best practices on how to hold the handle and walk with the device, and a short walk in a manual mode where a Kyle, Glide's Co-Founder and Head of Product was using a remote to control the steering and braking to help him get used to the device. From there, Mike was able to graduate to two autonomous prototypes - one to showcase our early AI object recognition and tracking feature, and the other to showcase Glide in "freestyle" walking mode. Both of these devices may look a little strange to the sighted viewer, as we were testing these capability advancements on older prototypes and not on"Marie", our latest design.

Recently, Mike surprised us by sharing his live demo experience, his thoughts on Glide, and even - yes, really - an original song he composed about Glide on YouTube.
